UX Strategy & Website for Mobile Group - A Multidisciplinary Engineering Company

Mobile Group

‍

Mobile Group is a multidisciplinary engineering company founded in 2008. More than 200 engineers build complete systems there, from concept to field deployment: automotive systems, secure communication, embedded and mobile systems, and solutions tailored to the mission. But most of what it builds is confidential, and the company can't detail anywhere public what exactly it does, for whom, or how.

We built the UX strategy together with the CEO, and Daphne, Director of Business Development, led the project on Mobile Group's side. The work began with a standalone strategy phase, and only then moved into design and website development in Webflow. Daphne later told us this two-step structure was one of the reasons they chose us: it let them get to know us before committing to the full project.

Not only is the design beautiful and modern, but they also made sure it's easy for us to maintain. Their team was professional, creative, and incredibly responsive throughout the process.

How do you tell a story when you can't say anything?

Mobile Group's previous website was outdated and hard to maintain, but the real challenge ran deeper. The company can't reveal its clients or its projects, show photos of its products, or explain what its systems actually do. In other words, we couldn't tell people what Mobile Group does, and we couldn't show it either.

And yet the site still had to deliver on the company's goals: be dynamic, beautiful and engaging, tell an interesting story, and show every visitor that this is a company doing extraordinary things. All while saying almost nothing.

The strategy phase revealed that the site's main goal wasn't new business at all. The goal was hiring engineers. Mobile Group is always hiring, and its most important visitor is a talented engineer asking whether this is where they want to work.

So we built a site that looks like a classic business website, while the path through it is designed for a candidate. A Careers button stays fixed in the navigation, Join our team appears on the very first screen, and every page ends with a Master the Art of Execution call to action inviting people to join the team. We mapped this entire structure in the sitemap up front, asking at every click what the visitor expects to see next.

Showing strength without showing the work

When you can't show projects, you need other ways to signal capability. The hero is built around an animated network of lines that reads both as a road system and as a circuit board, under the headline Where Ambitious Ideas Meet Real-World Execution. Three numbers stand in for a portfolio: 18+ years of expertise, 200+ engineers and over a million deployed systems.

Instead of projects, the site presents domains and capabilities. A timeline from 2008 to today tells how the company evolved without naming a single client. And one headline sums up what makes the company different: DNA of a Startup. Strength of a Global Partner.

When the copy doesn't work, the problem usually isn't the copywriter

The copy was written with our technology copywriter. After two rounds, it was clear the story still wasn't landing, and the writing wasn't the problem. Mobile Group does many different things, and the company had never defined, internally, how to tell its story in a single sentence.

Instead of a third round, we paused and asked the CEO and Daphne to define the company's story first. We don't cap revisions, but sometimes another round isn't the answer. Once the story was defined, the project moved fast.

"You gave us homework. And I think without you, we would not have taken the time to do it."

An unplanned result: employees understand their own company better

When Daphne joined Mobile Group, she struggled to explain to friends and family what the company actually does. To define the story for the website, she sat with long-time colleagues and asked them how everything connects. Today, she says, she and other employees have a clearer picture of the company's structure and how its teams fit together. The website brought order inside, too.

A website everyone wants to show

Mobile Group's website is live at mobilegroup-sw.com. Daphne has shown it to friends, family and colleagues, and the reaction has been unanimous: everyone loves it. And it proves you can build a dynamic, engaging website even when almost every detail is off the record.

Mobile Group joins our engineering projects, alongside AGT Design, which works across defense, medical and robotics. What they share is complex work that's hard to explain in one sentence, which is exactly where the right story makes the difference.

This project shows why we work Blueprint First: when you can't say what you do, the story and the structure have to do the work.
